What we do:

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. People Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

As our HR advisor, you will support the development of a positive employee relations climate, by providing expert generalist HR and employee relations advice. Providing coaching to people leaders in the management of employee relations/policy issues, including but not limited to conduct, capability, attendance management, performance and organisational change, through the application of HR and other organisational policies and procedures.

Additionally, you will support and develop policies and procedures in line with current legislation and aligned to the organisational strategies and plan. You will also work in conjunction with senior HR business partners to plan activities that enable a more positive employee relations climate, improve people leader capability, and reduce formal cases.

Where you fit in:

  • Assessing ER cases in terms of risk and possible solutions with the aim of reducing reoccurring issues through case analysis and proactive interventions where possible. Working with the HRBP to ensure these are embedded in the People Strategies and Plans.
  • Providing advice and guidance on complex disciplinary and welfare cases, capability, grievance, and coaching people leaders where appropriate.
  • Coach, support and guide people leaders to be competent and consistent in their application of Yorkshire Waters people policies and procedures encouraging problems to be dealt with informally and as soon as possible, rather than allowing situations to escalate.
  • Guide people leaders to self-service information on the People Portal and SAMANAGE on pay, standby payments, honorariums, role changes, overtime, etc.

What skills & qualifications you will need:
