Head of People
As a not-for-profit organisation, the SCAPE Group comprises of six companies enabling public sector organisations to deliver their essential built environment projects. Our mission is to create a world everyone deserves, by empowering the public sector to collaborate with the private sector and create a legacy for local communities.
The SCAPE Group is wholly-owned by six local authority shareholders, and any surplus income we make is returned to the public sector – meaning we don’t just work with the public sector, we are the public sector.
We’re looking for a Head of People to join our team and lead on the implementation and delivery of our people strategies.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive, you will be a strategic partner to our senior leaders, driving initiatives to attract, retain, and develop top talent while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This is a truly generalist role, leading a small team, which oversees and gets involved with all the key HR services, whilst also helping to shape and support our culture.
You will have the opportunity to lead and support the business on:
Strategic Human Resources Leadership developing strategies to support the overall business goals and subsidiary business plans.
Workforce and success planning ensuring the business has the right roles, skills and capabilities to deliver its current and future business plans and goals
Learning and development developing and overseeing initiatives to build a learning culture that includes formal training, self learning, and career advancement opportunities.
Culture taking a lead role in developing our values and behaviours implementing actions to embed these into our people practices
Employee engagement promoting and developing opportunities for collaboration and involvement and providing support and activities to ensure the health and wellbeing of employees
Reward and recognition ensuring that we continue to offer a competitive and fair package of pay and benefits
Diversity and inclusion leading the continuous development and implementation of actions that value EDI and fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion
Employee relations and compliance providing advice and guidance to employees and managers, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, best practice, policies and procedures.
HR Operations overseeing HR administration, employee benefits, HRIS management, policy and process development.
What you’ll bring
· Significant experience in a senior people role with a demonstrable track record of delivering successful HR operations and strategy.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships, particularly with senior leaders.
· A thorough working knowledge of employment law, best practice and employee relations Excellent leadership and management skills, role modelling values, behaviours and culture of the company
· Self-motivated, with a can-do attitude, energetic, enthusiastic, with drive and ambition for the development and growth of the group.
· Experience of organisational development activities including development of values to support culture change
· Experience in public and private sector organisations, ideally with some knowledge of local government term and conditions
· A basic understanding of sustainability in the workplace, and be committed to support the business with its carbon reduction strategy

· Attractive salary starting from £67,000 - £70,000 depending on experience.
