This Role: Head of People

We’re looking for a passionate people person who can help develop & nurture our talent to keep building a high-performance environment. We’ve got the basics locked down with an external partner but believe we can benefit adding an experienced member to the team to support the business in the next stage of our growth.

This includes:

  • Embedding OKRs as part of the business with systems to support
  • Identifying training & people development opportunities
  • Reviewing our review process and refining as needed
  • Owning relationships with external partners (Creative Access / Recruitment / HR)
  • Driving NPS and broader employee engagement (current NPS score is 65)
  • Supporting our People Squad and broader staff focused initiatives

We are looking for someone to work 2-3 days per week (as a business we operate a 4-day week). We have a hybrid working environment and expect 2 days per week to be based in our Shoreditch office.

The salary for this role will be up to £70k FTE (£42k based on 3 days pw)

We’re also open to hearing from committed consultants who charge a day rate in line with the salary rate.

Key Attributes & Experience

We’re still a relatively small (41 people), entrepreneurial business operating in a fun and creative but very competitive category. We run as a meritocracy; if someone’s good enough they’re old enough. People trump process but both are important. The ideal candidate will understand this and will be excited about driving performance and helping people build careers and achieve their potential at Big Potato.

We’re looking for:

  • 7 years + experience in HR Manager role or more senior in a creative environment
  • Ability to translate business objectives into people focused objectives & initiatives
  • Track record of helping young leaders get the most from their teams
  • Experience developing and delivering company-wide programs successfully
  • A pragmatic, results-oriented approach, prepared to get stuck-in
  • Strong situational leadership skills
  • A radically candid approach - bothered about people and the business
