Job: Senior Payroll & Benefits Officer   

Salary:  £35,000 - £40,000 per annum 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week  

Location: Hybrid. This is a hybrid role primarily based from home with the potential to travel to operational meetings and occasionally our head office based in Kings Hill, Kent. If you’d prefer to work from an office more regularly please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Job Summary 

As part of the People, Talent & Learning Team within Cloud21, and working closely with our Finance team, you will play a crucial role in managing our in-house payroll ensuring seamless reward and benefits administration, ensuring regulatory compliance and excellent employee experience.    

 

Additional Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Oversee implementation relevant system changes and roll out new processes ensuring stakeholder buy-in.   
  • Lead the end-to-end payroll input process, ensuring high levels of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance including monthly audit and sign off process.   
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits (including but not limited to Pension plans and Cycle to Work schemes) accurately and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.  
  • Become company’s IR35 legislation expert and ensure company activities align with relevant processes and legislation.   
  • Collaborate with the wider People team to develop and implement reward strategies that align with organisational goals.  
  • Support internal auditing and quality management on payroll and contractor compliance including IR35 adherence.   
  • Complete Intermediaries report for HMRC on a monthly basis and be responsible for timely submission to HMRC.   
  • Conduct regular audits to verify that all contractors and freelancers are correctly classified under IR35 regulations.  
  • Work closely with legal and HR teams to address any compliance issues that may arise.  
  • Collaborate with Finance team and to address any discrepancies or issues identified in the reporting process.  
  • Stay updated on industry best practice and make recommendations for process improvements.   
  • Prepare for company growth and associated requirements eg Gender Pay Gap reporting. 

 

Personal Specification 

  • Previous experience of working in a Payroll position at Officer or Senior Officer level or equivalent experience   
  • Strong working knowledge of reward and benefits administration, including pension and Cycle to Work programs.  
  • Strong working knowledge of pension administration  
  • Strong understanding and previous experience of working with contractors that adhere to IR35 regulations.   
  • Previous experience in successfully implementing payroll system and processes   
  • Ability to generate and analyse reports for wider review  
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Standalone Payroll experience working in standalone role (Desirable) 
  • Working knowledge of ADP Payroll system (Desirable) 
  • Working knowledge of Sage intacct System (Desirable)
