People & Culture Assistant


We are Corstorphine & Wright, an award-winning, AJ100 architectural practice with 11 studios across the UK. We are a dedicated team of 290+ enthusiastic individuals that care about creating places that foster human connection while adding commercial, civic, environmental, and social value.


Due to exciting developments across our UK wide team, our People & Culture team is also expanding and looking for a talented People & Culture Assistant to join our close-knit team! The People & Culture Assistant is a vital role within our People function that ensures effective support to the People & Culture team and seamless positive employment experience from initial interview to exit.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing administration for all elements of the employee life cycle including preparing and collecting documents for new joiners, leavers, promotions, title changes, obtaining references, verification documents and issuing contracts.
  • Maintaining confidential employee records, assisting with general HR administration and employee-related communications throughout the employee life cycle.
  • Setting up new joiners and process leavers on Exelsys to ensure smooth onboarding/ offboarding.
  • Ensuring annual reviews and probation reviews are happening for all employees. You will answer any queries on the review process and make sure employees are set up and effectively using Exelsys/ appraisal system to develop their capabilities.
  • Monitoring the HR inbox: proactively ensuring email queries are assigned as appropriate and answered promptly.
  • Collating job descriptions, managing job postings on Exelsys and external advertising platforms.
  • Helping to maintain our applicant tracking data.
  • Assisting the HR team to successfully deliver the “People Plan”, other projects and initiatives as required.


Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • An effective communicator both written and verbal, with an understanding of how to tailor your communication style depending on the audience.
  • Highly collaborative and transparent in your work style, knowing when to share information and when to ask for help.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who is resourceful, highly motivated and driven to always deliver excellence and innovation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource management system (HRM), and similar computer applications.
