HR Advisor

We are looking for a HR Advisor to join our busy Employee Relations team. This role will primarily support our Health and Life Science Faculty with their case work.


Our HR Advisors support each other and work closely with the People Partners in providing a joined-up colleague focused service demonstrating our values in action (Collaborative, Compassionate, Creative and Community-minded).


Your typical working week will include:

• Empowering our people managers and leaders by providing purposeful HR advisory support on a range of people management challenges, ranging from effectively managing attendance, improving performance, conduct and addressing complaint issues relating to staff behaviour.

• Providing HR advice on change management activities like service reviews, pay/grading internal processes and employment status matters.

• Supporting Investigating Officers undertaking workplace investigations.

• Providing risk assessed advice to decision-makers across the full range of people management formal processes.

• Researching and presenting data and information to help inform management decisions both in verbal and in written form.

• Creating content for our manager and colleague self-service Connect pages including facilitating management training linked to key people management policies.

• Working in a manner that promotes and embeds a culture where difference is valued.


Ideal Candidate


As the ideal candidate for this role, you are a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, thriving in a hybrid working environment. Your flexibility as an HR professional enables seamless collaboration with stakeholders, including trade union representatives and employee network members. A curious and pragmatic problem-solver, you influence and support people management, utilizing your current knowledge of employment legislation.


Whilst a CIPD qualification is great, we are looking for candidates with core HR experience and we are open to supporting the achievement of a HR qualification through our apprenticeship levy.


You will be:

• A confident communicator whose strong interpersonal skills helps them to quickly build positive professional relationships in a hybrid working environment.

• A flexible HR professional able to work with a range of stakeholders including trade union representatives and colleagues from employee networks like the Women’s network.

• A curious and a pragmatic problem-solver able to influence and support people management to get the best from their colleagues.

• A credible HR Advisor utilising your current knowledge of employment impacting legislation when advising managers on available options.

• Confident in your coaching skills you will have the ability to assess and breakdown complex workplace situations into actionable steps for managers and colleagues.
