HR Advisor / People Advisor

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire / Hybrid

Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy company committed to developing, building, and operating innovative renewable energy hubs. We are looking for an experienced People Advisor to compliment and reinforce the expertise in this newly formed People department. Although this is a generalist role, there is an emphasis on employment law and employee relations, and it is expected that you will act as a specialist within the team in these areas.

Required Experience & Qualifications


  • CIPD Level 5.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience in a similar role with an emphasis on employment law, employee relations and performance related issues.
  • An evidence-based, people centric approach with a desire to enable high-performance.
  • A proactive approach to People, combined with commercial understanding to ensure that the People department supports the business in achieving its strategic objectives.
  • Experience in managing grievances, disciplinaries and settlement agreements.
  • A strong belief in continuous learning to model the process to the company, including the confidence to identify your own mistakes to learn from them. 
  • Experience in the recruitment process and interviewing.
  • Excellent understanding of HR systems, (HiBob would be an advantage but is not essential)


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the regular review of the Employee Handbook and People policies, drafting of new People policies for sign off by the Executive Committee and providing People related advice for policies owned by other departments. Ensure that all information contained is kept up to date and in line with employment law changes.
  • Keep up to date at all times will employment law, advising colleagues of relevant changes and ensuring that documentation and processes are revised when required.
  • Taking a proactive evidence-based approach to reviewing employee data to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
  • Responsible for GDPR processes, procedures and policies within the People department, such as overseeing the destruction of data in line with defined retention periods.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including performance management and grievances.
  • Assist managers with recruitment processes, including drafting managing suppliers, chairing agency briefings, advising managers regarding effective job descriptions, conducting interviews, and making job offers.
  • Support learning and development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the creation of the process and procedures manual.
  • Ensure all processes and procedures are completed in line with the People Processes and Procedures Manual, Company policy, and GDPR and employment law requirements.
