SALARY: Up to £26,000 depending on experience

Sheffield United Football Club is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our Human Resources team.


You will play a key role supporting the Head of HR, staff and key stakeholders with employment policies, contracts, and staff wellbeing, while ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate will be a strong administrator who will provide line manager support for the HR Administration team and take responsibility for ensuring club HR data and administrative procedures are up to date and accurate.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support for line managers relating to employment policies, procedures and legal compliance e.g. basic holidays, sickness absence, performance management issues and employee relations including recruitment, discipline and grievance.
  • Draft and Issue staff contracts of employment and offer letters, ensuring signed copies are promptly returned and filed securely.
  • Maintain all HR Trackers and Systems.
  • Support the Head of HR to maintain and update the Club Policies, Procedures and Staff Handbook.
  • Manage Exit interview process ensuring all leavers receive an exit interview form and have the opportunity to discuss any concerns and next steps are put in place with Managers where necessary.
  • Support the Staff Wellbeing Strategy.
  • Support the Head of HR to identify continuous improvement opportunities across the Department.
  • Support the wider HR team in the delivery of Recruitment, Health & Safety, Equality diversity and Inclusion and Safeguarding matters.
  • Provide line manager support to the HR Administrator, ensuring effective PDR's and regular 1-1's take place.
  • Carry out any typical HR duties or other reasonable Management requests as directed.
  • Lead on the club complaints procedure, compiling appropriate actions and responses.
  • Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.


Club Wide Responsibilities:

  • To adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects from harm those defined as children and adults at risk.
  • To report any concerns of a Safeguarding nature to the relevant parties and remain fully compliant with any applicable Safeguarding checks and due diligence and recognise your responsibility to the Club's Safeguarding agenda.
  • To report any concerns of discrimination to the relevant parties and promote a welcoming and inclusive club environment for all.
  • To adhere to the Club's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies, supporting the Club to create an environment which is inclusive and all-encompassing.
  • Carry out/take part in training requests as directed by the Club.


Essential Criteria you need:

  • Human Resources qualification or working towards or proven experience in a HR role.
  • Excellent IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident in dealing with and advising on complex or tough HR issues.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.


Desirable Criteria for the role:

  • Sound understanding of employment law.
