Payroll and HR Systems Specialist

šŸ“£ A bit about the role.  

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall running of our payroll periods from start to finish. Our team is growing, so you will manage the growing UK payroll of 500+ squad members, from start to finish. Youā€™ll work with our external payroll provider and internal stakeholders to ensure every payday runs like clockwork. Along with this you will be our HR systems specialist making improvements to our processes, ways of working and our main HR system (UKG provided by Kronos) 

Responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Running payroll each period for over 500 squad members across two sites (maybe more in the future), including calculating overtime, holiday pay, additional holiday pay, and deductions for benefits such as Cycle to Work, BUPA Dental, and Vitality Medical Cover.
  • Creating and improving the payroll processes, policies and best practices for both new and existing squad members. Taking our payroll to the next level!
  • Onboarding new joiners, welcoming them in Induction and taking them through what to expect in terms of payroll and benefits.
  • Supporting the wider People team with key projects, day to day activities and administration. 
  • Ensure that all benefits programs and statutory entitlements are implemented and maintained in accordance with our legal requirements.
  • Review Working Time Directive and escalate areas of concern. Championing why the legislation is in place and how people leaders can uphold it.
  • Taking the lead in data focussed projects such as the Gender Pay Gap.

This role will report into the People Manager.

 

šŸ‘‹ A bit about you. 

  • You have experience of working on payrolls within the UK and can work with external providers
  • Youā€™re a whizz at Excel/Google Sheets. You can look at data and instinctively see mistakes and areas for improvement
  • You are comfortable with HR and / or payroll systems, and have a talent for improvements within these systems 
  • You pride yourself on being organised, trustworthy, discrete and approachable 
  • Youā€™re an excellent communicator, with the ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally in a growing and fast-changing environment
  • You are happy with multitasking and context-switching
  • You love dogs, naturally. (You like people too...) and our Butternut values resonate strongly with you
