UK HR Manager/HRBP

Role Overview:

The Dual Brands UK HR Manager is a HR generalist and people partnering role supporting our Gas Direct England, Gas Direct Cymru and Scottish Industrial Gases sites across the UK (approx. 180 UK employees). This is the perfect opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual, looking to develop their career and whilst helping shaping our HR function and maintaining a positive, productive and inclusive work culture.

Using your HR expertise and experience you will provide pragmatic advice and guidance to leaders and managers on a range of people matters, ensuring compliance with HR policies, employment law and current HR best practice. You will manage and support on a range of employee relations issues, including disciplinary, capability and grievance cases and organisational change projects with support from our legal service and Air Products HR Business Partner.


This role is primarily based at our Westerhope site (with hybrid working) and will need to travel occasionally to our sites as required.


What you will be doing:

People Partnering;

·      A credible, confident communicator who utilises HR knowledge and expertise with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

·      Can operate as a trusted, ‘critical friend’ to leaders and managers, supporting them to build organisational and people capability, implement people strategies and activities, and own and manage people issues effectively and fairly.

·      Be the main point of contact for operational people matters throughout the Dual Brand business, including any employee concerns or issues.

·      Provide a generalist people service to the business with support from legal advisors and HRBP.

·      Collate and analyse people Data to formulate and propose appropriate people action plans.

Recruitment and onboarding;

·      Advertises, creates/reviews job descriptions, pre-selection of candidates, selection interviews, final decision and contracts, organising and co-ordinating new starter inductions and onboarding.

·      Maintains employee records and handles all People administrative tasks.

·      Management and ownership of full employee lifecycle, working closely with Payroll.

Talent and performance

·      Support managers to identify people skill development needs. Identify external support to address or provide internal training and coaching as appropriate.

·      Support managers to assess performance and that improvements identified are managed appropriately.

·      Involvement in developing and maintaining succession plans.

·      Support with appraisals and annual salary reviews.

Compensation;

·      Manage employment benefits and compensation such as salary reviews, benchmarking and bonus schemes.

Employee relations, wellbeing and compliance;

·      Support leadership and management in maintaining a positive working environment, relationship, and provide advice when needed in relation to People policy, Disciplinary and Grievance matters. 

·      Record and monitor employee absence data, noting any trends and promoting early intervention.

·      Coach and support line managers with formal processes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice, sharing with the management team as appropriate.

·      Assist in the development, implementation and review of Dual Brand contracts, procedures People policies and procedures in line with UK Legislation.

·      Handle employee relations issues, notetaking when necessary, and providing recommendations for resolution.

·      Responsible for all aspects of absence management and leave processes.

·      Develop and maintain systems to lead absence management; conduct; performance management; grievances; and probation reviews.

Supporting Change;

·      The successful person will need to work on projects independently with support and guidance from HRBP as required.


About you:

  • An experienced HR generalist (essential)
  • Experience of working in a shipping/logistics/manufacturing environment (desirable)
  • Prior experience of TUPE and/or change projects (essential)
  • Experience of Workday (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of GDPR, UK Employment Law and regulations with the ability to work with legal advisers to provide guidance to the business (essential).
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities (essential)
  • CIPD level 5 qualification or higher (essential)
